… exploring the emotional world of Maqmat and the wide horizon of
untempered and monophonic music …
In January 2018 Yair Dalal founded the „Universal Love Orchestra“. The members, most of them living in Germany, have since been embarking on an exciting journey to the roots of Middle Eastern music, with their passion for this realm of music leading them to Israel to rehearse and play with Bedouin musicians. The orchestra comes together for workshops in Germany, Israel and Sinai on a regular basis, and, being an open group, happily welcomes new musicians to join them any time.
A fascinating and visionary teacher and orchestra director, Yair Dalal shares his vast knowledge and repertoire of oriental folk songs, classical Arabic compositions and modern contemporary works of Middle Eastern music as well as his own compositions, passing it on to the Orchestra in traditional ways.
The members of the Orchestra with their various musical and biographic backgrounds are unified in their curiosity, love and passion for the music of the Middle East. The instruments represented in the Orchestra are as manifold as the musicians themselves, ranging from Kamancheh, Oud, Ney and oriental percussion to Cello, Violin, Flute, Clarinet and Harp, to name only a few.
